Party conference season

In the United Kingdom the party conference season refers to the period of three weeks in September and October of each year which contains the annual political party conferences. They typically take place in seaside resorts, such as Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth, although in a break with tradition the 2006 & 2008 Labour Party Conferences were held in Manchester.

*Conservative Party Conference

The Trades Union Congress conference also takes place around this time.

The conferences take place before the end of the summer recess.

In 2008 these are as follows

*Trades Union Congress - 8 to 11 September, in Brighton
*Plaid Cymru - 11 to 13 September, in Aberystwyth
*Liberal Democrats - 13 to 17 September, in Bournemouth
*Labour- 20 to 24 September, in Manchester
*Conservatives - 28 September to 1st October, in Birmingham
*Scottish National Party - 16 to October, in Perth
