The name Chalcolestes comes from Greek: χαλχοσ copper and ληστησ predator. [1]

The genus contains only two species:[2]

  • Chalcolestes viridis (Vander Linden, 1825) – Willow Emerald Damselfly,[4] Western Willow Spreadwing[3]
