Arunachal Scouts Active 2009 – Present Country India Branch Army Type Infantry Size 4 Battalions Arunachal Scouts is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army. It was raised to defend India's border with Tibet in Arunachal Pradesh. It specializes in mountain warfare.
History
The proposal to raise the Arunachal Scouts along the lines of the illustrious Ladakh Scouts for defending the border with China was proposed by former Indian Army chief and Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, General J. J. Singh, in 2008. The proposal was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2009.[1]
The first battalion was raised in 2010.[2]
