Unholy alliance (politics)

An unholy alliance is a political or other arrangement whereby individuals or groups of radically opposed orientations co-operate together in particular circumstances on matters of common concern.

The term echoes the "Holy Alliance", a diplomatic alliance between Russia, Austria and Prussia concluded in 1815.
