Llancaiach Colliery

Llancaiach Colliery was a coal mine in the South Wales Valleys, located just to the north of the village of Nelson and just to the south of Llancaiach Fawr Manor.

It was opened by Thomas Powell in 1811 [http://flickr.com/photos/thereggy/2244801268/] and closed in 1887 [http://www.steamindex.com/backtrak/bt10.htm (paragraph 4)] . The colliery was served by a branch line of the Taff Vale Railway.
