Llancaiach Fawr

Llancaiach Fawr

Llancaiach Fawr is a Tudor manor house near the village of Nelson in South Wales, which is now a museum of living history. It is located just to the north of the site of the former Llancaiach Colliery.

The museum is owned and operated by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The thematic setting for the museum is the year 1645, at the height of the English Civil War when King Charles I of England visited the house to persuade its owner, Colonel Edward Prichard, not to change his allegiance, which he did, however, not long after the King's visit (August 5th).
