Company

Peek was founded in 2007 by former members of the executive team at Virgin Mobile USA. The company has offices in New York, NY and Oakland, CA.

Peek Email Device

The Peek is an alternative to multi-featured smartphones that provide a variety of service and applications. Unlike traditional converged devices that can do everything from voice, SMS, email, etc., Peek is a "diverged" product that is designed just for mobile e-mail.

The Peek service operates in the United States on a nationwide GSM wireless network. There is a flat monthly service fee for unlimited email on up to three accounts.

In September 2008, the Peek email device launched in Target stores across the United States.

The Peek is based on the TI Locosto chipset, and uses a customized, lightweight operating system nicknamed "Peekux" (though it is not in any way based on Linux).
