Trillick (Irish: "Trileac") is a small
village inCounty Tyrone ,Northern Ireland . It had a population of 303 people in the 2001 Census. Trillick is situated in theOmagh District Council area.Name
Trillick "Trileac" (in Irish) “three stones”, is another term for a chambered tomb. The village is named from a ruined example beside Trillick Castle.
History
In the 17th century, the Mervyn family of Trillick built a castle on the site of a 7th century abbey north of the town.

The Troubles , on9 February 1971 , John Eakins (52), Harry Edgar (26) and George Beck (43), Protestants, William Thomas (35) fromWales and David Henson (24) fromEngland , all civilians, were killed in aProvisional Irish Republican Army landmine attack while travelling in a civilian landrover atBrougher Mountain , near Trillick.
