Raja Nadir Pervez Khan is a
Pakistan i politician, ex-MP, and former Army officer. He was a minister in theNawaz Sharif government during the 1990s. He is the brother-in-law of the former Corps Commander of Quetta Lt. GeneralTariq Pervez . In a 1999 conversation (with Taimur Khan), he was described by GeneralTikka Khan , the Pakistani commander in theRann of Kutch battles in the spring of 1965, as a "brave and courageous soldier." General Tikka Khan recalled how Nadir Pervez captured an Indian patrol while on a reconnaissance mission during the clashes. He was later
court martialed "on false charges" and was sentenced to death but was later acquitted "Honourably". He joined thePakistan Muslim League N and is now a Member of theNational Assembly of Pakistan . "He has also remained Interior State Minister, Federal Minister for WAPDA, and Federal Minister for Communications. It has been suggested by some that Nawaz Sharif may have been manipulated by Raja Nadir and other close aides to replace Musharraf as the Chief of Army Staff, which eventually led to a coup and dismissal of the Sharif Government in October 1999.
Raja Nadir was denied PML-N ticket for 2008 general election because he dared to invite General (retd)
Pervez Musharraf to his son’s wedding. Consequently, the party’s ticket went to Haji Akram Ansari, who won the NA-85 Faisalabad-XI National Assembly seat. It was Haji Akram Ansari who did not contest 2002 general election because he was not a graduate. Nadir Pervez contested election from Ansari's constituency in 2002 and won the election with Ansari's support. After graduating, Ansari decided to participate in the 2008 election and party gave him ticket as he was MNA from this constituency in 1993 and 1997.References
