Bill Arp Elementary School

Bill Arp Elementary School is a pre-k through 5th grade educational institution located in Douglas County, Georgia. The school has served the county for over 100 years. The Bill Arp name comes from a popular Humorist, by the name of Charles Henry Smith, who wrote under "Bill Arp" a pen name which he used to vent his frustration at the Union Army and its defeat during the end of the Civil War.

Bill Arp has grown with the times and has been rebuilt in a separate location. They reopened for the 2006-2007 school year only miles away from the original location. Now they are near Robert S. Alexander high school on Alexander Parkway, in Douglasville, Ga.

The school is a part of the Douglas County School System. The school also offers sports for children. They have football, baseball, softball, soccer, tee-ball, and other sports for ages 4-12 both male and female. These sports are usually played at the Bill Arp Park, behind the old location. This park has been used by the school since it was built, for P.E. class and after school activities.

The old location also has a large field that was used for running laps, large scale school events (Field Days, Drug Awareness Assemblies, Special events, etc) and other school activities.
