The Biysky District is a municipal district in eastern
Altai Krai ,Russia with an area of 2200 km² and a population of 35700 people. The district was formed in 1924, and its administrative center is the city ofBiysk , located 140 kilometers fromBarnaul .Geography
The Biysky District is located in the eastern part of the krai, in the southern part of Biysko-Chumyshskaya highland. It borders with the Zonalny, Tselliny, Soltonsky, Krasnogorsky, Sovetsky and Smolensky districts, as well as the eastern administrative district of
Biysk .The terrain is rugged and people extract sand and gravel. The climate is continental with the average January temperature being -18°C and the average July temperature being 18.9°C. The annual atmospheric precipitation is 520 mm. The Biya, Katun, Bekhtemir, Shubenka and Nenya rivers flow through the region. Pines, birches, aspens, alders, sorbus, viburnum, bird cherries, and poplar grow in this area.

In the district there are 36 settlemenets, the largest of them are Verkh-Bekhtemir, Verkh-Katunskoe, Yeniseyskoe, Lesnoe, Stan-Bekhtemir, Novikovo, Pervomayskoe, Srostki, Svetloozerskoe, and Usyatskoe.
