non-profit , community benefit organization that collects and distributes diapers for variouscharity organizations in southernArizona . The organization provides diapers and other incontinence supplies for babies, disabled and older persons who otherwise cannot afford them. No government program provides assistance for child diapers or adult supplies. It is the Nation's firstDiaper bank . It was founded in 1994 by Hildy Gottlieb and Dimitri Petropolis. The SADB's structure is collaborative and is a
501(c)(3) organization . It is supported byvolunteerism ,donations , and aboard of directors .Collection
The SADB is continually running awareness & diaper collection campaigns. It has various collection sites around southern Arizona. It is dependent upon the charity of local civic groups, faith-based organizations, schools and businesses.
Distribution
Collected diapers are distributed to 55 different partner agencies including the Pima County Health Department. Since inception, this organization has distributed over 5 million diapers.
