Dyrham

Dyrham is a village in South Gloucestershire, England.

Location and communications

Dyrham is at lat. 51° 29' north, long. 2° 22' west (gbmapping|ST37381757). It lies at an altitude of 100 metres above sea level. It is near the A46 trunk road, about convert|6.5|mi|km miles north of Bath and a little south of the M4 motorway. The Cotswold Way long-distance footpath runs through the village.

Nearby features

At the edge of the village is Dyrham Park, a spectacular mansion in convert|274|acre|km2|lk=on of parkland built by William Blathwayt in the late 17th century and now owned by the National Trust.

A woodland named Dyrham Wood lies about a mile to the south of the village.

Dyrham Park was used as the set for the 1993 Merchant Ivory film "The Remains of the Day".also for bbc poduction of dracula

Dyrham is thought to have been the site of the important Battle of Deorham in 577 AD.

Lower Ledge Farm, south of the village, is where the new Farbio GTS sports car will be made.
