Portage Trail Conference

Portage Trail Conference

The Portage Trail Conference or PTC is an association of sixteen high schools located in the United States; within the Northeastern Ohio counties of Portage, Summit, and Stark. Ten member schools are from Portage County, five from Summit County, and one from Stark County (note- Mogadore Schools serve residents of both Portage and Summit Counties, but the school buildings are physically located in Summit County). The conference is divided into two divisions, based on enrollment. The Metro Division contains the larger schools, who compete in Ohio's Divisions II and III for football (like the NCAA, Division I contains the largest schools), while the County Division contains the smaller schools, who compete in divisions III-VI. Because they are based on enrollments, a school's membership in a given division can change if enrollment numbers change. Games between teams of the same division count in conference standings, while games against schools from the other division are basically treated as non-conference games. The conference officially began play in the fall of 2005.
