"The Lucky Corner" is a 1935 "Our Gang" short comedy film directed by Gus Meins. It was the 138th "Our Gang" short (50th talking episode) that was released.

Plot

Lovable old Gus is forced to move his tiny lemonade stand when a sidewalk-diner owner and his bratty son Leonard complain that Gus represents "unfair competition." As Gus relocates near a barber shop at the invitation of friendly boot black Joe Mathey, the Our Gang kids decide to drum up business for their favorite merchant by staging a makeshift parade and musical show. Wagner and his son finally get their comeuppance when a scalp-massaging device becomes lodged in Wagner's trousers, forcing the villain into a brief but colorful "dancing" career. Highlights include Alfalfa's deathless rendition of "Little Brown Jug" and a lengthy comedy set piece involving soap-spiked lemonade. Though filmed for Our Gang's 1934-1935 season, The Lucky Corner was inexplicably withheld from release until March of 1936. cite web |url=http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/225683/The-Lucky-Corner/overview |title=New York Times: The Lucky Corner |accessdate=2008-09-20|work=NY Times]

Other Notes

This was the first episode to feature the common version of the Our gang theme song Good Old Days used as alternate openings for the all of syndicated Little Rascals television prints beginning in 1971. This episode was also edited by about 8 minutes due to content percieved as racial toawrd African Americans but reinstated in the 2001 to 2003 airings on AMC.
