River Derwent

River Derwent is the name of several rivers in England:

The name "Derwent" means "a valley thick with oaks"Fact|date=May 2008 (compare Modern Welsh "derwen" = oak). The Romans had a number of forts called "Derventio". The Derwent Reservoir is located at the Derwent Valley, downstream of the Howden Reservoir. The river flows on through Derby.
