Launceston Aquatic Centre

The Aquatic Centre is a double storey structure being built at the old Windmill Hill Swimming Pool site in Launceston, Tasmania. Construction on the centre is expected to be completed by the end of March at a cost of $26.3 million. The Launceston City Council estimate that 400,000 people will visit each year after the establishment period.

The Aquatic Centre will include an Indoor aquatic pool area, which will include a 50 metre competition pool, spectator seating, leisure and learn to swim pools, children's play and splash park, hot water program pool, spa and sauna.

An outdoor 25 metre pool will include a diving tank, beach entry and Water Slide.

Other facilities included are, Indoor Program and Meeting Spaces, a cafe to be called Cube Aqua with wet lounge areas, a Wellness Centre, Food Store, Pool store, Outdoor terraces and social areas, Associated plant rooms and storage areas and on-site and on street car parking with outdoor landscaped areas. It was orginally said a few years ago that the cost of the project would not exceed the $17 million spent on the Hobart Aquatic Centre, but this is now obviously not the case.

Wellness Centre

The Wellness Centre will be located next to the entry point on the East side of the building. Rubber flooring will be used throughout The Wellness Centre, along with painted concrete perimeter walls, air-conditioning (heating and cooling system), hot and cold water, waste drainage, general power, data and CCTV security cameras. There will also be toilet access.
