List of posthumously released films

List of posthumously released films

This is a list of films that were released after someone involved in the film died.

Films following the director's death

*"The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" (released 1977) and "The Rescuers" (also released in 1977) - Both following the death of John Lounsbery, who co-directed the two animated features with Wolfgang Reitherman.
*"Waitress" (released 2007) - Following the 2006 murder of writer/director Adrienne Shelly. Shelly also played a supporting role in the film.

Films following an actor/actress's death

*"The Jungle Book" (released 1967) - Following the death of actress Verna Felton, who played Winifred the Elephant. This 1967 title is also notable for being released after Walt Disney's death, which occurred only the day after Verna Felton's death in December 1966.
*"Watership Down" (released 1978) - Following the death of Zero Mostel, who played Kehaar the Seagull in that film.
*"The Little Mermaid" (released 1989) -Following the death of Ben Wright
*"A Bug's Life" (released 1998) - Following the death of Roddy McDowell voice of the worker ant, Mr. Soil.
*"Cars" (released 2006) - Following the death of Joe Ranft. Ranft had served as an animator at Pixar since before the studio's first theatrical release, "Toy Story" (released 1995). In "Cars", he did a wide variety of voices, most notably, Red the anthropomorphic fire truck.
*"Happy Feet" (released 2006) - Following the death of Steve Irwin (aka the Legendary Croc Hunter). Irwin played a very minor role of a large bull elephant seal. He was originally supposed to play an albatross in the film, but that scene was cut from the final film and replaced with the elephant seal scene. However, the albatross sequence is featured as a bonus feature on the DVD release, in memory of Steve Irwin after his death.
*"Delgo" (awaiting 2008 release) - Will follow Anne Bancroft's death. Bancroft in fact died back in 2005, three whole years before the film's scheduled Christmas 2008 release.
