The Mercator Fund is a project within the framework of the [http://www.nefic.org Network of European Foundations] (NEF). [The website of the Mercator Fund is: http://www.mercatorfund.net] The Mercator Fund is best known for its annual Raymond Georis Prize for Innovative Philanthropy [See: http://www.mercatorfund.net/modules/awards] and for its The Senlis Council project which focuses on security & development, public security and public health issues. The Raymond Georis Prize for Innovative Philantrophy

The Raymond Georis Prize for Innovative Philanthropy was established by The Mercator Fund to reward an individual, organisation, foundation or project which has conceived and implemented an outstanding and innovative philanthropic programme in Europe. For 2008, the Prize was awarded Mr. Diego Hidalgo Schnur, founder of the Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE), as well as many other organisations committed to development, democracy and human rights around the world. The award was made in the presence of over 600 members of the European Foundation Community during a meeting in Turkey.

The Senlis Council is a security and development think tank that is trying to promote innovative policies based on research in conflict zones such as Afghanistan,Iraq and Somalia
