Music Center the Netherlands

Music Center the Netherlands (MCN) is the Dutch knowledge and promotional center for Dutch professional music. The organization strengthens the position of Dutch music and music culture in the Netherlands and abroad. It organizes events and informative meetings, workshops, courses, it publishes promotional cd's, and visits international music fairs and conventions. It is financially supported by the Dutch government.

The organisation exists since January 1. of 2008 and is an amalgamation of seven music institutes: Donemus (documentation center for classical music), Gaudeamus (center for contemporary music), De Kamervraag (center for classical music), Dutch Jazz Organisation, the Dutch Jazz Service, the Netherlands Jazz Archive and the Dutch Rock and Pop Institute. This national organization has dedicated itself to all musical genres: from pop (rock, urban, hiphop, dance, crossover), jazz, classical, contemporary to world music. The focus is on everybody who is working in the world of professional music.
