The building was torn down in 1957 to help rebuild the sand dunes and natural habitat of the surrounding area. It was originally located off of State Road 510 west of US1.
tudent Population
The school served small area cities, including Orchid, Roseland, Cummings, Gifford, and Winter Beach. The peak enrollment was in 823 students in 1947. The campus had 100% white students.
Campus
The school consisted of three portions, the main high school building, which consisted of the majority of classrooms. The high school office and cafeteria were located together in the second portion. The final building on the premises was a large gymnasium.
During school hours and extracurricular programs, the gym, which also had a stage, served to house the school's musical and art programs, including band, orchestra, chorus, and drama club.
When not in use for class related functions, the gym has been used to hold PTA/PTO meetings, put on concerts and other events, and otherwise act as focal point for any events separate from normal classes.
The gymnasium's doors closed after the 1946-1947 school year with a special musical presentation that included the school's band, orchestra, and chorus performing a specially commissioned musical piece centered around Walt Whitman's "O Captain, My Captain."

The school had a number of sports teams, traditionally strongest in rifle and swimming. The mascot, the Dolphin (the fish aka
Mahi-Mahi , not the mammaldolphin ), was named Fishy. The school never won a state championship.Current High Schools
