- Muhsin Khalid
Muhsin Khalid is a Sudanese writer and intellectual. He was born in 1973, in Al Misaiktab, a village in Northern Sudan.
He published works amount to twelve books with another three books currently banned from distributing in Sudan. Four of his literary works were translated into English and he frequently writes in a number of Arabic newspapers. He is a contributor to many intellectual forums on Arab and international levels. During his university education he was one of the most famous speakers of the secularists discussion corners in Al Gazeerah university. He was the founder of the “Atlas against geography Cultural Group” which bitterly opposes the so called “The Cultural Islamic Undertaking” launched by the regime in Sudan.
During his stay in the United Arab Emirates he submitted some of his works to the censorship authorities in four Arab countries but were rejected because they were deemed unconformable with Islamic orthodoxy in general. On 4/7/2005 Sudan’s Minister of Communications, Dr. Al Tayeb Mustafah issued an official statement wherein he expressed the State’s opinion on Muhsin Khalid’s writings, declared him an infidel person and announced blocking of his works on the Internet in Sudan. The young controversial writer is living now in UK.
