Queensland Energy Resources

Queensland Energy Resources Limited (QERL) is an Australian oil shale mining and shale oil extraction company with the headquarter in Brisbane. It is a developer of the Stuart and McFarlane oil shale projects.

History

Queensland Energy Resources Limited was formed in 2003 to operate the Stuart Oil Shale Project. In February 2004, it purchased the assets of the Stuart Oil Shale Project from receivers of the project's former developer, Southern Pacific Petroleum N.L.cite paper

] On 14 August 2008, Queensland Energy Resources announced that it has shunned the Alberta-Taciuk Processor (ATP) oil shale processing technology in favor of the Paraho II technology and that the ATP technology-based pilot plant is being dismantled, and obsolete components are being sold.cite news

Operations

Queensland Energy Resources holds mining tenement rights to several oil shale deposits in Australia. Two major resources are located near Gladstone and Proserpine, Queensland. It owns also pilot plant facility in Rifle, Colorado, used for testing oil shale from its deposits.
