Beijing, ChinaResidence West Des Moines, Iowa, USA Discipline Men's artistic gymnastics Liang Chow (formerly Qiao Liang, Simplified Chinese: 乔良, Traditional Chinese: 喬良, Pinyin: Qiáo Liáng) (born January 1, 1968 in Beijing) is a former gymnast and the personal coach of the 2008 Olympic gold medalist, Shawn Johnson.
Chow was on China's national gymnastics team for more than a decade, winning international and national medals.
He came to the United States in 1990. He accepted an English scholarship and a coaching position at the University of Iowa.
In 1998, he and his wife Liwen Zhuang moved to West Des Moines, Iowa and opened Chow's Gymnastics and Dance Institute. They have one child, named Kevin. Chow became a U.S. citizen in 2002.
