It has campuses located at Morwell, Yallourn, Warragul, Chadstone and Leongatha.With the Gippsland Region being Australia's largest power producing centre GippsTAFE has developed a strong focus in training for the energy, mining and telecommunications industries. It also provides a wide selection of study options in
vocational education from short courses, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships and traineeships through to certificate, diploma, advanced diploma level, under theAustralian Qualifications Framework . In 2006 12,000 students studied at Central Gippsland TAFE at over 300 courses.In 2005 GippsTAFE teamed up with Australia's Ceramic Fuel Cells, Ltd. (CFCL) to conduct a field trail of a fuel cell-powered micro-combined heat and power (CHP) generator appliance, conducted at the Chadstone Campus. Gippsland Educational Precinct
In 2004 GippsTAFE signed a partnership agreement to develop the Gippsland Education Precinct (GEP) at Churchill together with
Monash University , Gippsland Group Training, Kurnai Secondary College andLatrobe City , to provide wider vocational options and lift the region's high school retention rate. The $12million project funded by the Victorian Government will include a state-of-the-art technology centre, which will allow for advanced apprenticeship training in trades that rely heavily on information technology systems.
