George Provopoulos

George Provopoulos

George Provopoulos (born April 20, 1950 in Pireaus, Greece) is the current Governor of the Bank of Greece, and European Central Bank Governing Council member. Prior to his appointment as Central Bank Head, he was a Professor at the University of Athens.

He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the University of Athens, and his MA and PhD in Economics at the University of Essex on a UK Government Scholarship [cite web|url = http://www.bankofgreece.gr/en/bank/provopoulos.asp|title = Bank of Greece - Georgios A.
