Daniël Theys (born 26 January 1953 in Holsbeek, Belgium) is a Belgian glassmaker[1][dead link] and expressive artist. He's a member of Belgian glass styling. He works with his wife Chris Miseur, they are also well known as the Theys and Miseur duo and are one of the leaders of contemporary glass art.
Biography
Daniël Theys started his own glass-studio in 1987 where he first makes stained glass windows. After a couple of years Daniel goes to Murano in Italy to learn the old techniques of glass art. Now he had a large studio in Leuven near Brussels where he makes many projects in glass. He gives his passion for glass to his wife Chris Miseur, she started as glass artist in 1990. Their son Daan Theys combines his career as expressive artist with blown glass.
Projects
Daniël Theys makes for his project of The Creation the biggest stained glasswindow of Belgium for the church of "Onze Lieve Vrouw van Gedurige bijstand" in Haacht. The glass-in-concrete is 22 by 7 meters large.
Daniël Theys is the founder of Belgian Glass Styling.
