Pitcheswara Rao Atluri (1925 — 1966) was an
India n writer, and a prominent writer in theTelugu language .Early life
He was born in the small village of
Choutapalli inKrishna District ,Andhra Pradesh onApril 12 ,1925 . Later, his family migrated to the nearby village, Pulaparru. He studied in Choutapally village and Kaikaluru schools. He was first in theHindi 'Visharada' exams. He completed his Inter in the then 'Bandar' (Machilipatnam ) College.He joined the
Indian Navy after completing his studies in 1945. In 1948 he passed with flying colours in B R W, K C G exams. He resigned from the Indian Navy in 1953.Writing career
He worked at a daily Telugu
newspaper , "Vishalandhra", for some time. In 1962, he moved toMadras , the presentChennai , and worked as a filmscriptwriter , which he became famous for. He translated famous works ofliterature from the Hindi language into Telugu-Godaan, Prathidwani, Pekamukkalu, and Gaadida Athma Kadha. Apart from translation, he wrote many stories,radio play s, sketches, and others. "Manasulo Manishi' is an exceptional work of his.'Gowthama Budha' and 'Veeresalingam' documentary scripts are examples of his unparalleled talent as a
writer . The scripts for these documentaries are considered to be rare works of art in Telugu language. At a time when he was blossoming to be a great film scriptwriter , he died onSeptember 26 ,1966 from a heart attack.Works

His wife,
Chouda Rani , was the youngest daughter ofTripuraneni Ramaswamy , a great Telugu poet and social reformer. Chouda Rani herself was a short story writer, andnovelist . She started an exclusive Telugu bookstore in Madras. She died in 1996.
