- Mainland India
-
Mainland India are the territories of India located on the Asian continental mainland. This includes the twenty-eight states and five out of seven union territories. The union territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep are outside mainland India.
Additionally, the Antarctic base of Maitri is also outside mainland India.
Politically and historically, the term has little significance, and is mostly used only by amateur radio operators as the territories outside mainland India have a different callsign block.
