Willie Fotheringham signed for
Dumfries club Queen of the South in1933 and was part of many landmark events in the history of Queen of the Southhttp://www.qosfc.com/qosaz.htm] :-* Queens highly successful first season in the top division finishing 4th - their highest finish to date. Queens also made it to the quarter finals of the
Scottish Cup for the first time"The Queens" by Iain McCartney on Creedon Publications, 2004] (a feat the club now counts into double figures).* Fotheringham was part of the 16 player squad for the 11 game 1936 overseas tour and the Algiers invitational tournament. Queens returned with the trophy after beating
Racing de Santander in the final.* Fotheringham was at the club for the 1937 knocking of Rangers out of the Scottish Cup
In one game for Queens away to Arbroath Willie Fotheringham left behind his false teeth in the goal mouth at the ground in error. The falsers were returned to Fotheringham via a fish delivery lorry from Arbroath.
Later years
Willie Fotheringham retired in 1937 and later on in life scouted for Queens bringing George 'Chopper' Dickson to Dumfries.
