Baughurst is a parish in Hampshire, England located just west of the town of Tadley, and 6 miles north of Basingstoke. In the 2001 census it had a population of 2,473. Many peoplewho? think the name "Baughurst" is derived from the Old English "wood of the badger", indeed there is a pub in the village that was recently re-named to "The Badger's Wood". A less romantic theory is the name means "bog wood". Old English for badger was "bagga" or "brock"; Bog was "bogach" or "bugan". The location was historically heathland used to grow ash and willow used in the manufacture of besom brooms in nearby Tadley. Both species of tree known to thrive best in moist soil conditions. The name "Tadley" may also have been derived from the old English "Tadde" meaning toad or frog.

Nearby towns include: Andover, Basingstoke, Newbury, Reading, Tadley and Winchester

Whilst nearby villages include Aldermaston, Alton, Bramley, Hook, Kingsclere, Oakley, Old Basing, Overton, Silchester and Whitchurch.
