"Looking for Space" is the title of a popular song written and performed by the American singer-songwriter John Denver. Released as a single from his album "Windsong", "Looking for Space" peaked at #29 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1976. It was more popular on the adult contemporary chart, however, where the song became Denver's seventh #1 on this chart. [Whitburn, Joel (1996). "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits", 6th Edition (Billboard Publications)] The song also appeared on various "greatest hits" albums released by the singer.

Denver described the themes of the song to "Billboard" magazine: "It's about looking for the definition of who you are, by finding out where you are, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally." In the final episode of the seventh season of "Magnum, P.I." in 1987, this song dramatically plays off and on during the entire episode and as Magnum walks away before the end credits.
