Regular season

Nashville finished third in their division with a 68–74 regular season record, their first losing season since the inaugural 1978 campaign. During the season, the Sounds were enlisted to serve as the competition in the Southern League All-Star Game, held in Huntsville, Alabama. Designated hitter Bruce Fields and third baseman Germán Rivera were chosen for the league's post-season All-Star team.
