Wolverhampton ,United Kingdom . [ [http://www.networkwestmidlands.co.uk/train/Rail%20Development%20Strategy.pdf West Midlands Rail vision: Rail Development Strategy] ] [ [http://www.railwatch.org.uk/backtrack/rw80/lami.html Rail Watch] ] It has yet to be passed and is still in planning stages. It would be located on the
Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line loop of theWest Coast Mainline , and would give the north of Wolverhampton local commuter trains easing congestion on the M6 and M54 motorways. The close proximity to the motorways would draw in longer distance passengers who wish to commute into theWest Midlands conurbation .All but one station (Penkridge) has been axed between Wolverhampton and Stafford, leaving locals isolated, with no rail link. The station would serve these communities in addition to passengers drawn from the motorway network.
It would provide
Park and Ride facilities, with a large car park.It is planned to have two platforms on the existing double tracked, electrified line.
