Hip spica cast

Hip spica cast

A hip spica cast is a sort of orthopedic cast used to immobilize the hip or thigh. It is used to facilitate healing of injured hip joints or of fractured femurs.

A hip spica cast typically encloses the torso from the chest downward to below the knee or knees of the leg or legs associated with the injury, with a hole in the perineal region to permit urination, defecation, and cleaning.
