Released as a single from the band's second studio album of the same name in 1979, "Morning Dance" became a Top 40 hit in the United States, where it peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1979. It remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. Although Spyro Gyra is well-known and has sold millions of albums worldwide, this single is the band's sole U.S. top 40 hit to date. "Morning Dance" also spent one week atop the U.S. adult contemporary chart. In the United Kingdom, the song reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart. It was once used on a special primetime episode of the popular gameshow The Price Is Right in 1986.[citation needed] Songwriter and band member Jay Beckenstein plays the alto sax on this track. It was also featured on The Weather Channel's Local Forecast segments.
