Kamloops Airport Airport codes|YKA|CYKA is a semi-international airport located in the Brocklehurst area of Kamloops, British Columbia Canada and is located convert|5|NM|abbr=on|lk=in west northwest of the town. It is owned and operated by Kamloops Airport Ltd. and YVRAS (Vancouver Airport Services). In 2007, YKA served around 200,611 passengers and had 40,491 aircraft movements. The passenger terminal at YKA is convert|6436|sqft|m2|abbr=on and currently has eight check-in counters.

The airport is classified as an airport of entry by NAV CANADA and is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency. CBSA officers at this airport currently can handle general aviation aircraft only, with no more than 15 passengers.

Runways

Kamloops Airport currently has two runways. Runway 04/22 is a convert|2092|ft|abbr=on|0 asphalt runway, while runway 08/26 is a convert|6000|ft|abbr=on|0 paved runway.

The airport provides navigational aids such as a localizer with DME (distance measuring equipment) and NDB (non-directional beacon). The main runway is equipped with an ODALS (omni directional approach lighting system).

The airport also houses industrial operations including small airplane repair, engine rebuilding and aircraft salvage facilities, avionics specialists, charter operations, a flying school, an air tanker base and a forest fire control centre. The new NAV CANADA Flight Information Centre (FIC) building and Flight Service Station (FSS) tower have recently changed the landscape at the Kamloops Airport. The new buildings are a welcome addition to the growing facilities.

On July 20, 2007 it was announced that runway 08/26 would be extended by convert|2000|ft|m|abbr=on. In addition, new navigational aids would be purchased. Construction will begin as soon as the environmental impact study has been completed.
