Monte Hale (broadcaster)

Monte Hale (died 1980) was a radio personality and owner of the WMTS-FM radio station located at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in city-state|Murfreesboro|Tennessee. From 1968 to 1980, he was know as "the Voice of the Blue Raiders." He died of cancer in 1980.

In 1978, he was the play-by-play announcer for the Double-A Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team during their innaugrial season in Nashville.

In 1981, he was inducted in to MTSU's Kennon Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions as broadcaster for the university's athletic programs. The school's 10,000-seat basketball arena located in Murphy Center was named after Hale in 1983.
