Dana Shertz (born 1959 in Brooklyn, NY) is the Co-Chair of CONNECT Sport Innovators Advisory Board[1]. Shertz is also the Managing Partner of Art of the Unconscious. He is the former COO and CMO of San Diego, California-based entertainment and development company EnDev Enterprises, LLC[2].

Biography

CONNECT Sports Innovators is an exclusive community of CEOs, Founders, and Presidents of emerging action sports companies as well as senior and executive-level management of mature sports companies, focused solely on developing and sharing strategies for growth and success.

Prior to being the Co-Chair of the CONNECT S.I. Advisory Board Shertz served as COO & CMO of EnDev Enterprises. EnDev owned and operated nightclubs and restaurants in San Diego, including: Stingaree, Side Bar, Bar West, Universal, Dish,The Witherby and Universal. The EnDev team is credited with helping to revitalize San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, making it a destination for upscale nightlife and entertainment. Prior to joining EnDev, Shertz spent over 20 years in the golf industry. From 2002-2006 he served as President and COO of MacGregor Golf[3], one of the oldest (110 years) and most successful (59 Majors) golf companies in the world[4]. At MacGregor Shertz was responsible for operations in North America, Australia, Canada and Latin America. One of the highlights of Shertz’s tenure at MacGregor was their attempted buyout of Callaway Golf; an all cash bid of $1.24 billion in conjunction with Boston-based Bain Capital that was ultimately declined by Callaway’s board[5].

Prior to MacGregor, Shertz served as Vice President of Sales for Callaway Golf. During his 13-year tenure at Callaway (1988-2002) he oversaw revenue growth from $5 million to $840 million, annually. Shertz participated in product development initiatives that led to the introduction of such notable products as Great Big Bertha Woods, Big Bertha Irons and Odyssey White Hot Putters. He also led the Callaway accessories product line business, growing revenue from $18 million to $40 million annually in a three-year period.

Shertz sits on the board of St. Vincent de Paul Villages[6], a part of Father Joe’s Villages. In 2008, he was named by San Diego Magazine as one of the 50 People to Watch[7].
