- Peter D. Feaver
Peter D. Feaver is a professor of
political science atDuke University and director of the Triangle Institute for Security Studies. He recently returned from asabbatical in the Bush administration, as a special advisor for strategic planning and institutional reform on the National Security Council.Feaver earned his Ph.D. in Government from
Harvard University and his undergraduate degree fromLehigh University . Feaver also served as Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control at theNational Security Council during theClinton administration . He is also alieutenant commander in theU.S. Naval Reserve .Dr Feaver hosted a "Conversation with Karl Rove" at Duke University, North Carolina on Monday 3 December 2007. For an hour he asked a variety of questions, including some submitted by students. By general consent the questions asked were fair and covered a wide range of topics including the 2000 - 2006 campaigns as well as Governor Bush's time in Texas. There were some demonstrators both inside and outside the building, with occasionally minor shouting. One notable issue was when a college Republican stood up to ask a question and prefaced it by denigrating the University of North Carolina and saying that the demonstrators were "not Duke material", even though they had, presumably, passed comparable entry requirements.
