"Penion chathamensis" is a species of very large predatory sea snail or true whelk, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Buccinidae, the true whelks.

Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand's Chatham Islands.

hell description

The shell is similar to "Penion ormesi", but with coarse sculpture and well developed axial folds on the spire-whorls.

The shell height is up to 180 mm, and width up to 71 mm.
