According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the village had a population of 4,336 in 2007.[1]
The village is mentioned in a late 14th century document of the Mamluk Sultanate who ruled Palestine from Cairo where three villagers are named as "ar'ru'asā ["the leaders"] in the village of Nūbā".[2]
