The important tribes in the town are Nutkani,Jamali,Khosas,Syed, and other are in minor number ,the most important figure within the Nutkani tribe is Khalid Hussain Nutkani a medical student recently in cuba, south america, The town of makwal kalan is heavily urbanizing as any of other pakistani district town ,the education,health care,women health care particularly during pregnancy have been improvised , many people of this town working across the world particulary middle east and some students are getting medical studies from the best institutes of the world as china and particulary Khalid Hussain Nutkani who was selected on merit list by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan studying in Cuban world leading university.
