Zaidpur was established by immigrants from
Iran in 1069 A.D. It is named after Syed Zaid Shahsawar, son of Syed Abdullah Zar-Baksh, whose descendants inhabited the town. Zaidpur hosts manySyed families - Zaidis, Rizvis and Taqvis. Zaidpur was one of theTaluka s ofAwadh . The Last Talukedar (Ruler/Administrator) of Zaidpur was (Late) Brig. (Retd) Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi 1st Punjab Regiment, who inherited the Taluka from his father Haji Syed Mohammad Askari who held the title of "talukedar Zaidpur, Gotia etc". At the time of partition of the Indian Sub-Continent the ruling talukedar Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi who was also a regular officer in Her Majesty's Royal Indian Army surrenderd his claim to the taluka and opted to move to Pakistan. After retiring from thePakistan Army as a Brigadier General he setup home in the city ofSialkot , in Punjab,Pakistan . Noor Muhammad seth is one of the most prominent family who is also the founder of [ ] , In 2007 a modern zaidpur gate with the hight of 40ft was designed and erected by his nephew Fakhruddin Usmani and daughter Sabra Fakhruddin during his visit from Karachi, Pakistan.Riyaz-us-Salatin the complete history of Muslim rule in Bengal written in Persian language by Gulam Hussain Salim Zaidpuri, it covers the whole Muslim rule from Bakhtiyar's conquest of Nadia in 1204-05 AD to the battle of Palashi in 1757, though there are lacuanae in various places. Salim was his pseudonym and Zaidpur in Uttar Pardesh his place of birth. He migrated to Malda and became a munshi. He held the office of Dak Munshi (Postmaster) under George Udney, the English Commercial Resident of Malda, at whose request he started writing the book in 1796 AD.
