airport located one mile (2 km) northwest of thecentral business district (CBD) of Farmington, a city in San Juan County,New Mexico , USA. It is the second busiest airport within New Mexico, behindAlbuquerque International Sunport . [ [http://www.daily-times.com/ci_6033759 Article in Farmington Daily Times] ] Formerly Mesa Airlines provided flights to Albuquerque, however these were discontinued in 2007. The City of Farmington is currently in negotiations withNew Mexico Airlines andGreat Lakes Airlines to take over Mesa's service to Albuquerque. While Mesa Airlines was still headquartered in Farmington, the airline served the city with 30 daily flights to various destinations utilizing Beechcraft 1900, Embraer 120, and Dash-8 aircraft.
Over the years, Four Corners Regional Airport has been served by the original Frontier Airlines, Sunwest Airlines, Air Midwest, Aspen Aspen Airways, Pioneer Airlines, Trans Colorado Airlines, America West Express, Continental Express, United Express, American Eagle, and USAirways Express. Today's minimal service is a far cry from the day when the airport saw Boeing 737s, Convairliners, British Aerospace 146s, and hourly service to Albuquerque.
