Princess Marie Louise of Hanover and Cumberland ("German: Marie Louise Victoria Caroline Amalie Alexandra Augusta Friederike Prinzessin von Hannover und Cumberland"), Princess of Great Britain and Ireland, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg (born 11 October 1879 in Gmunden, Upper Austria, Austria-Hungary; died 31 January 1948 at Schloss Salem in Salem, Baden-Württemberg, Germany). Marie Louise was the eldest daughter of Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover (1845-1923) and Princess Thyra of Denmark (1853-1933), the youngest daughter of Christian IX of Denmark (1818-1906) and Louise of Hesse-Kassel (1817-1898). Marie Louise was a great-great-granddaughter of George III of the United Kingdom (1738-1820) and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818).

Marriage and issue

Marie Louise married on 10 July 1900 in Gmunden, Austria-Hungary to Prince Maximilian of Baden (1867-1929), son of Prince Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden and his wife Princess Maria of Leuchtenberg, thus making him a first cousin twice removed of Napoleon III of France. Marie Louise and Maximilian had one daughter and one son:

*Princess Marie Alexandra of Baden (August 1, 1902 - January 29, 1944). Married Prince Wolfgang Moritz of Hesse-Kassel, a son of Prince Frederick Charles of Hesse-Kassel and Princess Margaret of Prussia. Marie Alexandra was killed in a bombing of Frankfurt by the Allies of World War II.

*Prince Berthold, Margrave of Baden (February 24, 1906 - October 27, 1963). Married Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark, a daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg. Prince Berthold was the brother-in-law of Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
