Merida is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 25,326 people in 5,622 households.

Education

The town is composed of five high schools which Merida Vocational School was being annexed by nearby barangay: MVS Calunangan, MVS Puerto Bello , MVS Minesite and Libas National High School.The main campus is located in Greenheights District just a meters away from the Municipal Hall.
