updated = The 1997 Beach Soccer World Cup was the third edition of the Beach Soccer World Championships which saw Brazil win the cup for the third time in a row. It was also the first time a European team failed to make it past the group stage. Once again, the tournament took place in Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
