Elizabeth Warren (writer)

Elizabeth Warren was described by "Canadian Fiction" as one of 'today's best new and emerging writers'. Her edgy short stories about the guerilla warfare of relationships have appeared in prestigious literary journals throughout Canada, the United States and Great Britain. Sometimes using the nom de plume Emmy Wildfield, she has been published in "Ascent", "Aspirations", "BRAND", "Canadian Fiction", "lichen literary journal", "Modern Haiku", "Other Voices", "Quality Women's Fiction", "13th Moon" and the "Wascana Review". An excerpt from her novel-in-progress made the cut in 2002 and New Century Writer Awards recognized her as a quarter finalist.

Her plays have been performed as part of the University of Toronto Drama Fest and What's Playing at the ROXY.

Elizabeth's elegant economic use of words reflects the ease with which she creates one of the most difficult poetic forms - the haiku. Her haiku have won international awards, been published in anthologies and performed in Canada and Japan. Most recently, her work appeared in "Double Vision: A Collaboration of Poets and Artists" and was featured in "The Sun Times". Her haiku was recognized by Hawaii Education Association's International Haiku Writing Contests in 2003 and 2000, received the British Haiku Society James W. Hackett Award in 1996, and was acclaimed by the Herb Barrett Award in 1996, the International Kusamakura Haiku Competition in 1996 and the Haiku Splash Competition in 1996.

Elizabeth's non-fiction articles have appeared in industry magazines and the "Financial Post".

A highly creative marketing and public relations executive, Elizabeth had a successful career working in the fashion industry in Paris, for Sotheby's auction house in London and in the securities market on Bay Street before moving to Owen Sound to finish her novel. She creates from this eclectic background, and her varied experiences are often reflected in her writing.

A graduate of Carleton University, Elizabeth has a postgraduate certificate in creative writing from Humber College.
