Lennon is a village located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 517 at the 2000 census. The village is situated on the boundary between Venice Township in Shiawassee County and Clayton Township in Genesee County and is partially in both.

The village was founded by Peter Lennon. He got the Grand Trunk Western Railroad routed through the settlement and a depot built there. He built a grain elevator, which was followed by other businesses. A post office was established in Genessee County in July 1880 with Lennon as the first postmaster. Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.4 km²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 517 people, 179 households, and 146 families residing in the village. The population density was 560.7 per square mile (217.0/km²). There were 189 housing units at an average density of 205.0/sq mi (79.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.26% White, 0.39% African American, 0.39% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.13% of the population.

There were 179 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.5% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.9% were non-families. 14.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the village the population was spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 88.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $48,583, and the median income for a family was $50,227. Males had a median income of $40,972 versus $30,833 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,148. About 2.1% of families and 5.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 10.7% of those age 65 or over.
